# Get cited by ChatGPT: give it a good reason.

ChatGPT doesn't recommend at random. It picks up the names it finds, described the same way, on sources it considers reliable. You don't force it: you make its job easier.

## How does ChatGPT choose who to cite?

ChatGPT relies on what it has learnt and, when it searches the web, on pages it considers reliable. It more readily picks up a brand described identically across several independent sources, with verifiable facts and a named author.

Why do you never cite me?

I've got nothing against you. I've just got nothing on you.

**Fig. 1.** Imaginary dialogue. (The real answer is longer and says the same thing.)

The problem

## Three misconceptions.

Symptom 1

### “All it takes is a special file”

No file gets you cited. What counts is what the web says about you.

Symptom 2

### “You have to publish a lot”

A hundred vague articles weigh less than one clear page that answers exactly the question asked.

Symptom 3

### “It's only for big brands”

On a specific, local question, a well-described tradesperson beats a national group.

Your competitors all look alike. Good.

**Fig. 2.** Your market, as Google sees it. (You're the purple one. Or you could be.)

The answer

## What works.

It's the subject of the book I co-wrote. Here's the short version.

1. **A clear identity.** Name, business, area, speciality: worded once, repeated identically everywhere.
2. **Direct answers.** Every important page answers a question in two sentences, then expands.
3. **Proof.** Figures, references, a named author. AI favours what it can attribute.
4. **Third parties who confirm.** Press, comparison sites, reference directories, reviews: where ChatGPT goes to check.

In detail

## What the ChatGPT work includes.

### A starting test

I ask ChatGPT what it knows about you and who it recommends in your trade. You keep the answers.

### Your standard description

A few accurate lines about your business, to copy onto your website, social networks and directories.

### Pages that answer

I rework your main pages so the answer to the customer's question appears in the very first lines.

### Dated, signed facts

Every important claim is backed by an example, a date or the name of the person writing it.

### Bot access

I check your site allows AI bots to read it, and that nothing blocks them by mistake.

### Mention requests

I list the sites where your presence is legitimate and write the messages to send them.

How it works

## How GEO support unfolds, month after month.

1. Day one

   ### Your customers' questions

You give me the phrases your customers use. I turn them into questions to test.
2. Week one

   ### The state of the answers

I ask ChatGPT these questions, with and without web search. I note the names and links shown.
3. Weeks 2 to 4

   ### The website

Aligned description, reworked pages, authors named. Your team or mine puts it live.
4. Months 2 to 4

   ### Other sites

I contact the sources identified. Some accept, others don't, and I keep you informed of each response.
5. Once a month

   ### The new test

The same questions are asked again. You see whether your name appears more, as much or less than before.

Making the choice

## Wait, publish a lot, or work on the sources?

| | Work on the sources | Publish a lot | Wait |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| The principle | Make your business clear and confirmed by other sites | Churn out blog articles | Rely on time |
| What ChatGPT finds | An identical description in several places | Lots of text, few new facts | Whatever already exists, accurate or not |
| Effort required | Regular, on a few pages and a few contacts | High, for content that's quickly forgotten | None |
| Limitation | No certainty of being named | Pages that look alike and get in each other's way | Your competitors move ahead meanwhile |
| Measurable | Yes, question by question | Rarely planned | No |

I recommend working on the sources because it targets what ChatGPT actually reads. It gives no certainty, but it can be measured.

### It's for you if…

- Customers have already told you they asked ChatGPT for advice
- Your speciality is precise, or your area well defined
- You can cite concrete examples of your work
- You accept that change shows over several months

### It's not for you if…

- You want to buy a place in the answers
- You're hoping for a file or a setting that fixes everything
- You plan to publish mass-generated texts
- You want to hide who runs the business

In pictures

## What well-run SEO looks like.

**On stage.** SEO explained to business owners, without jargon.

**A Google Business Profile.** 557 interactions between April and September 2026, up every month.

**ChatGPT.** “Very present on GEO, EEAT and conversational search topics.”

**Four books.** What I recommend is published, dated and signed.

In practice

## What you get.

- A diagnosis of your presence in ChatGPT
- A brand identity sheet to share everywhere
- Your key pages rewritten in question-and-answer format
- A list of sources for earning mentions
- Monthly citation tracking

Pricing

## What budget to work on your presence in ChatGPT?

I don't give a figure without looking at your situation. Here's what weighs on the quote.

- The gap between what ChatGPT says about you and reality
- The number of key pages to rework
- The number of external sites to contact
- Whether or not you have a copywriter in-house

In AI answers

## Getting cited by ChatGPT and AI: what the answer looks like.

More and more customers no longer type a search: they ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Mistral their question, and get two or three names.

To make that shortlist, the AI has to find the same precise description of your business everywhere: on your website, your Google Business Profile, in reviews, in the press. That's what I put in place.

FAQ

## Get cited by ChatGPT: frequently asked questions.

How long before getting cited?

It depends on how the AI works: when it searches the web, a change can show quickly; when it answers from memory, you have to wait for its sources to be updated. I don't promise a timeframe.

Does it also work for Gemini or Perplexity?

Yes, the principle is the same. The sources consulted differ slightly from one AI to another; we track them all.

Is there a minimum term?

No. Support is monthly and can be cancelled. You stay because it works, not because a contract forces you to.

Can you pay ChatGPT to be recommended?

That's not my job, and I don't sell any placements. My work focuses solely on what ChatGPT reads: your website and the sites that talk about your business.

Does ChatGPT really read my website?

When it searches the web, it consults pages and sometimes shows its sources. But your site still has to be accessible to its bots, with the answer easy to find. I check both points.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

You can add one; it takes little work. Nothing suggests it's enough to get a business named. I treat it as a detail, not a solution.

ChatGPT confuses me with another business. What should I do?

It happens when two names are similar. I specify your town, your business and your manager everywhere your business is described, so the distinction is clear.

Do customer reviews count?

They're part of what an AI can read about you. Recent, detailed reviews that you reply to provide concrete material. I never advise you to fabricate any.

Why is my competitor named and not me?

Often because they're described more clearly, or mentioned on sites ChatGPT consults. I compare your two situations and show you the differences.
