# SEO for energy renovation: get chosen for your jobs, without cold-calling anyone.

Your customers have been called ten times by strangers promising them almost-free work. They no longer pick up and no longer believe anyone. When they decide to insulate their house, they search for themselves, slowly, for a company they can check. I make sure that search leads them to you, with proof the middlemen don't have.

## What is SEO for an energy renovation company?

SEO for an energy renovation company is the work that makes it visible on Google when a homeowner in its area wants to insulate their home or start a whole-house renovation. It relies on pages by type of work, documented local jobs, clearly presented qualifications and an active Google Business Profile. It aims for enquiries coming from the customer themselves, and therefore more trusting than those obtained by phone.

The problem

## What gets in the way in energy renovation.

Symptom 1

### A market damaged by cold-calling

I won't sugar-coat it: your sector has a bad reputation. Pushy calls, offers too good to be true, botched jobs by companies that have since vanished. Homeowners approach every company with suspicion, including yours. Your site has to clear that suspicion before the first call.

Symptom 2

### Middlemen ahead of you on Google

Comparison sites, lead-generation sites, calculators: they capture the search, collect contact details and sell them to several companies at once. You pay for a lead that three competitors call back at the same time as you.

Symptom 3

### A business hanging on grant announcements

When the rules change, enquiries surge or stop. A company that only talks about current grants suffers these jolts. One that talks about comfort, bills and work done properly keeps getting enquiries when everything else goes quiet.

An audit, for real

## What I see in thirty seconds on an energy renovation website.

The site below doesn't exist, but its flaws do: they're the five I spot most often. Hover over a number.

**Fig. 2.** Fictional site, reconstructed. Any resemblance to yours would be a good reason to call me.

1. *1***A title that says “Home”**This title gives a name, not a trade or a town. “Insulation and whole-house renovation in Angoulême: qualified company” says who you are and where.
2. *2***“Our solutions” and “News”, no jobs**The menu shows no house insulated by your teams. “Our projects” and “The company” are missing.
3. *3***A welcome line, with no trade**This line says neither what you insulate nor where. A homeowner who has been cold-called is looking for a specific company. Talk about your trade.
4. *4***A house wearing a scarf, bought online**This illustration decorates every site in the sector. A photo of your team on a local job is proof.
5. *5***Three blocks, three “Find out more”**None explains what you install or how. Describe the work, then offer to look at financing.

What your customers type

## What your customers type when they want to renovate their home.

These six searches are given as examples for an insulation or whole-house renovation company. The audit draws up the list specific to your area.

*1*“loft insulation” followed by the town
: It is often the first job considered. The homeowner looks for a nearby company. A loft page sets out the techniques you use, unconverted or converted lofts, and the towns where you work.

*2*“external wall insulation price per m²”
: The budget is significant and they want a ballpark. Without giving a binding price, you can explain what makes the cost vary: state of the facade, finish, scaffolding, awkward details.

*3*“whole-house renovation old house”
: They have understood the whole house needs treating and are looking for someone to manage it. One page describes your role: the initial survey, the order of works, coordinating the trades, the follow-up.

*4*“house rated poorly on energy assessment what to do”
: An energy assessment has just told them their home uses too much energy. They want to know where to start. A clear, jargon-free article puts you in the picture before they even think about a quote.

*5*“qualified insulation company reviews”
: They are checking. They know certain qualifications are required for some grants, without always knowing which. Your up-to-date certificates, readable and explained, answer this search.

*6*“insulation cold-calling scam how to check”
: They have had a dubious call and are looking into it. A page explaining how to check a company, yours included, puts you on the side of those who inform. Few of your competitors dare write it.

What works

## The five levers for an energy renovation company.

Lever 1

### Proof that you exist

First and foremost, visitors want to know if you are a real company. Depot address, years in business, names of the managers, photos of the teams and vans, insurance, registration: I gather these on one clear page and align them with the Google Business Profile.

Lever 2

### One page per type of work

Lofts, internal wall insulation, external wall insulation, ground floors, ventilation, windows and doors, whole-house renovation: each of these jobs has its own searches. A catch-all “energy renovation” page answers none of them precisely.

Lever 3

### Local jobs, described simply

A 1960s house in such-and-such a village, what was insulated, with which material, in how many days, and what the owner says about it. This short format protects you from the middlemen, who have no jobs to show.

Lever 4

### Grants, handled with care

Customers will ask you about this. I write a page explaining your role in putting the application together and pointing to official sources for the conditions. No amounts or rates appear, because they change and make you liable.

Lever 5

### Qualifications explained

A logo in the footer means nothing to a homeowner. For each qualification you hold, one sentence says what it covers and until when. You send me the certificates, I use their exact titles.

What costs dearly

## The mistakes I often see on energy renovation websites.

Mistake 1

### Promising free or nearly free work

That is the cold-callers' message. It draws the curious and drives serious customers away. It can also expose you if the promise isn't kept. Talk about what remains to be paid once the file has been assessed.

Mistake 2

### Showing grant amounts on the site

Scales change and a forgotten page becomes wrong. A visitor who relied on it will hold it against you. Better to describe the process and offer a personalised assessment.

Mistake 3

### A calculator that only serves to grab a phone number

The visitor fills in five screens and gets no result, just a callback. They recognise the lead resellers' method. A short, honest form inspires more trust.

Mistake 4

### Saying nothing about how the job runs

How many days, how many people, how much disruption, what check at the end: these answers reassure a homeowner who will be living through the works.

The method

## What I put in place for an energy renovation company.

Four steps. Trust comes first, because nothing else works without it in this sector.

1. **Trust.** A complete company page and a consistent Google Business Profile, qualifications included.
2. **The work.** One page for each type of insulation and for whole-house renovation.
3. **The jobs.** Your local projects are published with the town, the method and the duration.
4. **The enquiries.** A monthly review separates enquiries from the site from those you buy.

One-minute test

## Is SEO right for you?

Five frank questions to find out whether support makes sense in your situation. Sometimes the answer is no, and I'll tell you.

Close to home

## Energy renovation in Charente.

In Charente, old housing is everywhere: stone houses in the villages, decades-old detached houses around Angoulême and Cognac. These two types of house are not insulated the same way, and their owners don't type the same words. All of them want to know who the company is and where it is based. An address in the département, located jobs and reviews from neighbours answer that question.

### Charente stone is not insulated like a modern house

Rubble-stone walls need solutions that let moisture through. A page dedicated to old buildings, written with your technical choices, speaks to owners who are afraid of damaging their house.

### Detached houses around Angoulême and Cognac

These houses, built several decades ago, share the same layout, lofts and windows. Showing a complete job on this type of house speaks to a whole neighbourhood.

### In villages, a recommendation counts double

A successful job in a small village gets around fast. Publishing it with the village name, and asking the owner for a review, extends that word of mouth online.

Beyond Google

## What AI changes for energy renovation.

Faced with such a technical and treacherous subject, many homeowners ask an AI such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Mistral before contacting anyone. For example: “I have a stone house near Angoulême with a poor energy rating, which works should I start with and how do I find a reliable company?”. The AI explains the priorities, warns against cold-callers, then sometimes names companies.

It favours those whose reliability can be checked across several sources: a site detailing the work, located jobs, dated qualifications, reviews that describe the job, a listing in the official directories of qualified professionals. A middleman with no jobs and no address gives it little to go on. I structure your content so these assistants can describe you accurately.

Question asked to an AIMy stone house near Angoulême has a poor energy rating. Which company should I contact to insulate it without being cold-called?

Answer

Three types of business answer this request:

1. **Our client**— Charente insulation and whole-house renovation company: jobs on stone houses described with town and method, dated and verifiable qualifications, visit before quote, homeowner reviews.
2. — lead-generation platform, contact details passed to several companies, phone callback.
3. — national network, local subcontracting, contact person varies by job.

Three typical cases

## Three energy renovation company scenarios.

The three cases below are useful fictions. None describes a client, and your plan will come out of the audit.

### An insulation company that buys its leads

It depends on paid lead lists, shared with others, and its margin suffers.

1. Measure the real cost of a job signed through those lists.
2. Publish loft, wall and floor pages, with local jobs.
3. Cut back purchases as direct enquiries grow.

### A recently founded whole-house renovation company

It coordinates several trades, but nobody understands what it offers.

1. Write a page describing its role, from the initial survey to handover.
2. Tell the story of two complete renovations, step by step.
3. Present the partner tradespeople and their qualifications.

### A facade specialist adding external wall insulation

Known for facade restoration, not for insulation.

1. Create an external wall insulation section separate from facade restoration.
2. Photograph three jobs before, during and after.
3. Add the new activity and its qualifications to the Google Business Profile.

In practice

## What you get.

- A company page that proves you exist and shows your qualifications
- One page per type of work, from lofts to whole-house renovation
- Local job sheets, with the method used and the duration
- A page on grants that explains your role without quoting amounts
- A monthly review of direct enquiries, compared with bought leads

Pricing

## How much does an SEO consultant cost?

The fee depends on four things. I give you a precise amount after a free first thirty-minute conversation.

- The size of the site: ten pages or ten thousand
- The competition on your queries
- What you can do in-house, and what needs producing for you
- The pace you want

FAQ

## SEO and energy renovation: your questions.

Comparison sites are everywhere. How do I get ahead of them?

I won't tell you that you'll overtake them on national searches. On searches that include a town or a type of building, a well-documented local company can rank properly. It also converts better, because the customer chooses it.

Can I talk about grants on my site?

Yes, by explaining the process and your role, and pointing to official sources for the conditions. I advise against writing amounts or eligibility criteria. They change, and an out-of-date page becomes a risk.

My customers are suspicious from the first contact. Can the site change that?

That is its main job. A homeowner who has read your company page, seen three jobs near their home and checked your qualifications calls you in a different frame of mind. You no longer have to prove you exist.

Should I keep buying leads?

As long as your direct enquiries aren't enough, yes. Just track what a signed job costs through each channel. In many cases, the comparison leads to cutting back those purchases gradually.

Is cold-calling still an option?

It is governed by strict rules in your sector, which I invite you to check with your trade body. Legal issues aside, it breeds mistrust. SEO does the opposite: the customer comes to you.

What should I do when grant rules change?

Update the relevant page quickly, without commenting beyond what is official. Your pages on the work itself don't change. That is why I build them around comfort and technique, not around grants.

How should I present my qualifications?

With their exact title, scope and expiry date, on a page that is easy to find. Add the link to the official directory where the customer can check. This transparency is rare, so it gets noticed.

Do I need a savings calculator?

I don't recommend one. An automatic estimate promises a result that only an on-site survey can establish. A form asking for the type of house, the year and the project is enough to prepare a visit.

I also do heating and windows. Should everything be on one site?

Yes, if it is the same company, with one section per trade. A customer who insulates their loft may change their windows later. Each section keeps its own pages and its own projects.

When will I see enquiries coming in?

A homeowner's decision takes months, and so does getting your pages established on Google. Count on groundwork, not an immediate effect. I show you the enquiries received every month, without promising anything in advance.
